Looking dapper at the BRITs

09:10

So I said I was going to write about 5 things every man should have in their wardrobe be it shoes, jumpers, coats etc. With the BRITs being a vocal point of twitter and Facebook last night I thought I should determine the real winners and losers on the red carpet (more winners nowadays).

Major events like these be it the BRITs, BAFTAS or OSCARs are not only about incredible talents on show they are now also about who is wearing what and how are they wearing it. Last night saw a variety of clothing ranging from very casual *cough* Mumford and Sons *cough* to perfectly tailored suits. I'm going to go through a few of my favourite outfits and some who should be thankful they have that musical talent!

Lets start with the host

Now Mr Corden scrubs up very well compared to his 'Gavin and Stacey' character Smithey. Whenever this man is out either or a night out or at a prestigious he always look very well put together! Well having friends like Harry Styles and Nick Grimshaw he has to look sharp to keep up with those boys.

I really enjoyed what he was wearing last night. I love a good velvet blazer (he is wearing Lanvin) and the big, bulging, bow tie tops off the outfit as well as the sleek combover hair. Although I am ashamed to say I did not catch what he had on his feet, although with a outfit like that I imagine a classic shoe like the Paul Smith in the last post with a subtle gloss finish would have fitted well. Well done Mr Corden, well done. (8/10)

The Man is back

After not releasing an album in seven years Justin Timberlake has hit back with a great new song called 'Suit and tie' and you can see from last night he has be taking his own advise very well.

This man is a great style icon and always looks on point with his clothing compared to the 90's with N Sync days. That blonde highlighted afro thing, come on JT what was that. Anyway back to last night. His dark grey Tom Ford suit was perfect for the red carpet teamed with a black knitted tie and what looks to be a pair of glossed finish chelsea boots. He looks more english than american! We can clearly see why he is Jessica Biel on his arm. (8.5/10)

The Ginger Ninja

Oh Ed! Ed Sheeran, an international star who mingles with the likes of Kanye West, Wiley and Taylor swift yet the multi millionaire folk/hip hop icon is still stuck in the dark when it comes to clothing. Although with his success I imagine it wont be hard for the man to pluck a few heart strings as well as he plucks his guitar.

So at least he is wearing a suit right? Last year he rocked a very well fitted dark blue suit, although he had to wear his favoured high tops. I was expecting big things from this man this year but I'm afraid to say he let him self down. For start the fit. Suits now are all about that snug, slim fit but Ed has decided to go with a rather baggy look. No Ed, no! Another faux pas is the material. That glossy finish for a suit is something I completely despise. I feel it makes them look cheap and tacky! The shoes or Ed the shoes. If you are going to wear a suit at least complete it with a nice pair of shoes and not a pair of nike blazers! With his fame and money maybe he should invest in a personal shopper and stylist. Sorry about the ranting! (3/10)

Jack the Lads

JLS. Now these boys have gone through a variety of trend with their drop crotch jeans or dazzling colours or T-shirts and cardigans but they seem to have knocked the boyish looks and turn into four dashing gentlemen.

Left to right we have Marvin, Oriste, JB and Aston. Lets start with Marvin. Great suit, I love the dark tartan style with a colourful maroon tie the slots in perfectly. He teams this three piece with a great pair suede/leather combo shoes that fit in flawlessly. Oriste has opted for again a three piece with a low waist coat with a subtle tartan trim that fits in great with the rest of the boys suits. Teamed with a pair of classic leather black formal shoes he look spot on. Third of the way there is JB. Again going for a dark three piece with a but of a tartan trim. The dark brown with an orange tie is a great mix as well as the dark tan buckle shoes. Finally to Aston. Again the tartan theme running through the band. The dark grey with a small hint of what could be called olive green (don't quote me on that just what my eyes see) looks fantastic with the dark blue tie with some dark derbies on his feet. Well done boys you have pulled it out the bag this year. (8/10)

The teenage girls fantasy

When One Direction first began as a group they looked like they had been dragged through Topman by their feet. Now they all have their own individual styles that makes them all style icons be it Harry's Burberry pilots jacket to Louis no socks and shoes look or Zayne's leather biker jacket. I feel they critisised by teenage/early twenties lads too much. Lads girls love them so why not dress similar to them. Im not saying go out and buy everything they where just put twist to their creations.

Left to right we have Liam, Louis, Zayne, Niall and Harry.
Liam has gone for a very much casual look with cardigan and crisp white shirts. I like the twists with the golden dragon fly broach and the dark velvet shoes. Moving onto Louis wearing a modern twist with a skinny fit tuxedo. I love the no tie thing the boys are doing as they are going for the casual smart look. I like his no socks and brogues combo and pulled up enough to see his ankles. I think it is a cool look if you can pull it off and especially with brogues, they are some great looking shoes!
Possibly one of most stylish out of all the boys is Zayne. Little fact he actually lives about 10 minutes from where I do! Moving on following James Corden he has gone for the velvet blazer and looks very dapper in it. Again going for the tux blazer. I like his ribbon style bow tie. Very cool. He isn't afraid to experiment with different styles. Looking at his Chelsea boots they could be Christian Louboutin with the studded style but that is just a guess.
The Irish one- Niall. A better dressed Ed Sheeran I would say with the vans accompanying the suit. I like the shirt he is wearing a little bit different with the collar.
Last but not least Harry. Just like Louis he has opted for a printed shirt (Burberry Prorsum shirt) that goes very well his tight fitting suit. I like the subtle accessories like the white flow on his breast and the pocket hanky barely visible giving it that smart English gentleman look but still keeping him trendy enough for a 19 year old. These lads always deliver on style. (8/10)

The King of the Brits

He has had a few fashion faux pas but last night I think he pulled off two rather cool suits. A vibrant blue for his performance and a dashing purple tux he came in.

Lets start with his entrance suit. Dark purple is a good look on Robbie I think plus it is something a little different. Teamed with the black trim its a good fitting suit that hugs his body nicely.
Now on to the electric blue. Wearing A.Sauvage he has kicked the pink suit from the video candy out of is wardrobe and come out looking more his age. He needs to remember he isn't the youthful TakeThat member he was in the 90's. Is he finally growing up?
